You've been running on the same fuel for years. And it's worked, mostly. You deliver. You solve the problem before anyone else notices there was one. But lately something's been costing more than it used to. You're more tired than the weekend fixes. You're shorter with people than you mean to be. And some part of you can feel where this is heading, even if you haven't said the word burnout yet.
That's not a personal failing. It's a pattern, and it has a structure that can be worked with before it turns into a crisis.
You're tired in a way that a good weekend doesn't fix
Concentrating on things that used to be easy now takes more effort
You're more irritable than you want to be, and you notice it
Your body is registering something your mind is still negotiating: tension, disrupted sleep, a low hum of anxiety that doesn't switch off
You're present in your life, but not quite in it
You keep thinking: just get through this week
These aren't signs that you're weak or that something is fundamentally wrong with you. They're signals, and they matter, especially before they get louder.

I'm a certified burnout coach and grief therapist, and one of the things I bring to this work is a grief lens on professional exhaustion and identity loss, where it's relevant. For some of the people I work with, part of what's underneath the stress is something closer to grief. A version of themselves. A career path that hasn't delivered what it promised. Years spent optimising for something that turned out not to fit.
We start with where you actually are right now, not with the causes. And you don't need to already be in crisis to start. Catching this early is often easier than recovering from it later.
First, the body. We work directly with your nervous system to reduce stress and restore physiological balance. Calming the body comes before anything more reflective.
Then, the pattern. Once things have settled, we look at what's actually been driving the stress, what patterns are keeping it in place, and what needs to change.
Then, the tools. You leave understanding what happened in your body and mind, with concrete skills to recognise the early signals and manage them before they escalate.
The programme runs across 7-8 sessions over 2-4 months, online via Zoom. Sessions are built around your specific situation, not a fixed programme everyone goes through the same way. What we uncover shapes what we work on next.

A clear understanding of your stress, not just the symptoms, but the cause
Tools built around how you specifically function
Practices to support sleep, focus, and your capacity to be present
The ability to recognise early signals before they become a crisis
No ongoing dependence on me to stay well
My name is Mette Hvied Lauesen. I'm a certified coach and trained grief therapist, and I work primarily with professionals and leaders dealing with stress, burnout, and the identity questions that often come with both.
I know what burnout feels like from the inside. It happened to me twice. And the only thing that actually helped was working with someone who understood what they were doing, before it got worse.
I'm not here to give you a quick fix or a set of generic tools. I'm here to help you understand what's happening, and make sure it doesn't turn into something bigger.
The method is grounded in the COPESTRESS research programme and has been used clinically for over 20 years. You can read more about the research at stresscenteret.dk.
We start with a free, no-obligation introductory call to talk about you and your situation. If we decide to work together, we agree on session times and get started. The first four sessions are roughly a week apart. After that, they're spaced a little further. Between sessions, there's work to do: exercises, practices, new habits. That's part of what makes it effective.
No. You can start whether you're signed off, still working, or just starting to notice the early signs. The programme works especially well preventively - if you can feel yourself heading toward burnout, that's a good time to start.
The full programme, including materials and up to 9 sessions, is 9,500 DKK including VAT (approximately EUR 1,275). Payment in instalments is possible.
Not at all. We'll figure it out together in our first conversation. Sometimes it's stress, sometimes it's burnout, sometimes it's something adjacent - grief, a career that no longer fits, or a combination of all three. The introductory call is free and there's no commitment.
